-We are in full on spin zone mode re: Covid origin, it seems, and I have to hand it to all forms of partisan media for what they’re doing to normalize the fact that Covid was made and “escaped” from a lab in Wuhan. Lib news networks (MSNBC, CNN, etc) see the word “BIOWEAPON” and immediately feel validated for being hysterical and policing people who wouldn’t put a piece of cloth over their face or take endless shots of experimental gene therapy sludge. Fox News conservatives think that China tried to destabilize The West with their “BIOWEAPON” and can probably be coaxed into supporting some form of retaliation leading to yet another forever war. Apparently the spy balloon psyop and mRNA boosters weren’t doing the kind of numbers they wanted, so it’s time for the media to finally accept the lab leak hypothesis.
What I’ve personally noticed is that maybe 3-6% of ex-diehard covidians are truly shocked by how they were swindled, and have learned quite a bit from the last few years — even if they don’t show it or admit it. Also about 50% of this group have a Substack, lol. These types probably won’t fall for the next psyop as easily. The other 95% appear to be mad more than anything. Not mad at the lab that leaked it, Fauci or Francis Collins, the endless media circus for lying constantly, the pharma companies for fudging clinical trial data. No friend, they’re mad at you, indeed for being correct well in advance, but I think there’s a more sinister phenomenon going on. They’re mad that they’ve lost this weird little social power and free pass to shame others.
I noticed this recently when I witnessed a conversation where it came out that someone wasn’t vaccinated. I could see the tremors on the face of the listener. I know I’m assuming a lot here, but it was instantly clear that 1) the listener knew deep down the vaccines were bullshit and didn’t work 2) he knew that he chose wrong and had “lost” this round and 3) he clearly wanted to ritualistically shame the unvaxxed individual, but was just realizing that that pattern had run its course and was no longer effective. It was fascinating. It seems most people only need an external enemy, almost never the true authentic enemy, to be satisfied and assured they are “a good one”. Much evil has been done in this world with such justification, methinks.
-I’ve been watching HBO’s Oz and what a show that is. I’m only on season three, but it’s hilarious to see Mayhem from the Allstate Commercials and J.K. Simmons from the Farmers insurance ads in their respective roles as unsalvageable prisoners. The show is pretty much flawless, up to this point and I’d give anything to have that era of HBO back. I wasn’t even old enough to watch Oz or The Sopranos while they were running, but looking back on it, I love the idea that my parents were watching this nasty shit after I went to sleep. Something that I would later stumble upon and feel the same as they did in 1999. Not everyone had HBO back then, so watching something like this was akin to becoming a patron or premium subscriber to a podcast that gets way raunchier behind the paywall. You’re in on something that the rest of the world is blissfully unaware of.
-Does Gen Z enjoy anything more than they enjoy taking a little red sharpie to a more talented person’s work? Sam Levinson (Euphoria) took over Director duties for HBO’s “The Idol”, after it was reported that co-creator, The Weeknd said the show was too focused on the “female perspective”. Per Rolling Stone, Levinson has scripts containing violence against women, “torture porn”, “rape fantasies”, and all sorts of stuff that sets off the libtard fire alarm in post-2016 America. Stuff that would be in an arthouse film 15 years ago that no one would bat an eye at, but now is an act of literal genocide.
It’s probably a good hype model for an obviously edgy new show, but what I find most funny about the reaction to the Levinson scripts is not the outrage itself, but WHO is most outraged. Whenever some overly crude media would come out when I was a kid (way too long ago), It was always 45 year old Evangelical Christian parents protesting and even trying to ban it from society, but nowadays it’s all people under 25. Every social media thread is riddled with insufferable zoomers scribbling with their red sharpie claiming that we’re “normalizing” all sorts of problematic behavior by allowing shows like “Euphoria” or perhaps even “The Idol” to remain on television.
It got me thinking a bit. Where were Zoomers during Covid? What huge Gen Z protest against obviously terrible public health measures can you think of off the top of your head? Almost every Gen Z led “resistance” movement has been in support of something that reinforces the party line. The young generation is supposed to worry us a bit with their edginess, but I’m fearful of how dull they are, to be honest.
It’s the phones. It’s cliche to say but what other factor could it be? You’re able to get all your outrage and tribalistic tendencies out with a few taps on some iPhone gorilla glass. Which reminds me of my personal Twitter break I just started. The first thing I noticed was the feeling of immediate relief when I deactivated. It got me thinking, why don’t more people take more regular scheduled breaks from this type of shit, even if not permanently? It would accomplish two things: one, you’d reset your dopamine receptors fried from constant use, and two, you’d have a better perspective on what is good and not so good about the apps in your life. I get that some need to use social media daily for brand building and whatnot, but do you, anon? Food for thought.
I met a new friend. It’s a funny story, he’s working full time but was very open that he’s striving to become a Youtuber/podcaster. He’s already got a few episodes out and plans on having ten more episodes out this year (a little light schedule if you ask me!) … this guy is clearly a great dude, and after listening to his project, a very talented interviewer. Of course, I mentioned nothing of Rare Candy.
He was telling me he spends over $500 to a team to professionally produce the video/audio of each episode. He isn’t rich, and has about 50 listeners right now. Look, I wish this guy success and believe he’ll find it if he sticks with it, he seems like a driven dude. I was just laughing a little bit reflecting on our journey up to this point. I’m like bro, do 10x the number of episodes for zero dollars, build up an audience first (I didn’t actually say anything). But that might just be bad advice from me — watch Rare Candy pull $50k a month a few years down the line and I’m like “uhh let’s hire a Fiverr guy to edit our audio on Audacity”.
